Monty's Star Odds and Grand National Form 2025
Monty’s Star started the season as a genuine candidate to step-up to Gold Cup class but his races to date this season have been something of a disappointment.
Henry De Bromhead’s son of Walk In The Park ran two excellent races toward the end of last season when finishing runner-up to Fact To File in the Brown Advisory at the Cheltenham Festival and then filling the same spot behind Spillane’s Tower in the Champion Novice Chase at Punchestown.
The 2024/25 campaign hasn’t gone as expected for this horse beginning with an odds-on five-length defeat by Embassy Gardens in the New Year’s Chase at Tramore and then fifth place in the Irish Gold Cup. It could be that Monty’s Star is becoming a spring horse and that his season is being brought along slowly in the hope of peaking at Aintree or Punchestown.
Monty's Star ran in the recent Cheltenham Gold Cup finishing fourth but nearly twenty lengths behind the winner, Inothewayurthinkin.
Connections also have Minella Indo for the Grand National and it could be that the 2025 race is a year too soon for Monty’s Star.
